Trevor came to us in pretty bad shape. He was rescued in the parking lot of the GVEC building in Schertz and passed on to his foster family in late May. His foster mom noticed right away that Trevor couldn't walk with his hind legs, and she took him to the emergency vet that same day. X-rays showed he had a fractured femur and multiple pelvic fractures, likely the result of a fall from high up, maybe in a tree. The vet who saw him conferred with a specialist at the VREC specialty vet and was told that Trevor was too young for surgery, so he was treated with rest and lots of TLC in hopes that his bones would heal as he grew. He was re-xrayed 8 weeks later and his bones had healed, although his pelvis healed at an angle to compensate for the broken femur. It's very noticeable on the x-rays, but not much at all to someone looking at him in person who doesn't know what to look for. This currently causes him no pain at all, and he will most likely not require any special treatment or surgery later on. He will probably be somewhat arthritic in his back legs in his golden years, but then again he might not! He runs, climbs, jumps up and down from things just as all normal kittens do. He's a very sweet boy who loves his people, and gets along well with other cats.

About Homes for Pets

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a group of animal lovers who volunteer our time and talents to help homeless needy pets find new homes. Many of our pets come from life or death situations, or abusive situations. Some pets come from city shelters. We also list animals that are still with their owner, but for one reason or another the owner can no longer keep them. Our dogs and cats live in foster homes, not in a shelter. You don't have to wonder if a dog or cat is good with kids, or other dogs or cats. You will usually know if they are. We work on housebreaking and basic manners as well.

ALL of our animals, even those we list for owners trying to re-home their pets, must be spayed/neutered to help control the serious animal overpopulation in this area.
