My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Female * Tuxie * Born Spring 2010
I was left at the county shelter and was one very frightened kitty. Strike that. I was terrified. To this day, I do not like to find myself closed in a room. I had a weepy eye, so I was isolated from the main areas and I was very lonely in my cage*. As you can see, I lucked out and landed in foster home with MCSPCA.

We have seen a lot of changes during my stay. Foster Nana and her very fluffy cat came to live with us (giving me a new playmate). We get lots of attention all day long and foster Nana gives us extra treats (however that led foster Mom to change our meal plans as I really like those treats a little too much). My roomies are sympathetic to my plight and are on similar plans to give me moral support. I thought perhaps I would get a contract to do before and after pictures to show off my new trimmer self but so far no calls from Weight Watchers or NurtriSystem. I admit when we had an emergency foster, who ate only that wonderful kitty junk food, I stashed away more that a bit causing me to fall off the proverbial chow wagon. I am back to healthier nibbles, but it is hard.

I adore kitty grass , fresh catnip, toy mice and windows. I also like to give head butts and high fives. I have excellent litter box habits and I use a corrugated scratching pad with a good deal of enthusiasm (and just a dash of dry cat nip for incentive).

I am very outgoing and I get along well with other cats. In fact, I thrive with lots of company and need to be in a home with companion animals. I do not like to be left alone. In fact, I panic when left by myself and do not care to be isolated even when others may be present elsewhere in the house. So I need a home with other cats. More than one preferably.

* MCSPCA consulted a specialist and Cora's cloudy/weepy eye condition is considered benign. She will continue to need eye drops to help keep her eye moist. Cora has vision in the eye and has no other problems. The ophthalmologist determined that the damage was most likely the result of an injury when she was a young kitten.

To adopt you must first complete an adoption application and either come to an adoption event or arrange to meet the cat in its foster home. We do not do same day adoptions so, generally, we can only adopt within the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
