My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our foster dogs live as family members in the foster home until chosen for adoption.

UPDATE: I am now living in a wonderful foster home!!!

Hi, my name is Austin.

Oh my, I have lost my family. I was brought to the shelter in hopes a family would fall in love with me and give me a home. I miss being with a family. Now, don't I have the cutest face??

I am a young fellow at heart, about five years old and I weigh around 45 pounds. Do you have room in your heart and home for me? I am way past that messy chewy puppy stage.

I have already been neutered, given my basic shots, microchipped, and am heartworm negative.

A Sheltered Paws volunteer has this to say about Austin: "Austin is a little shy at first but is a perfect gentleman in a four legged form! While riding in the car, he would rather simply look out the window than do the usual head-out-of-the-window doggie thing. Austin is very well behaved on a leash and would just love to have a family of his own. Being a bit older, he is not as high energy as a younger dog, but is in great health. Austin was wonderful while getting his bath before a recent adoption event and did not even flinch when we used the hair dryer. He enjoys playing with other dogs as much as with his human companions, but also looks forward to just being with someone to love.

Robin, Austin foster mom, has nothing good feelings for him. This is what she says about him, Austin was diagnosed and is being treated for Cushing disease and hip dysplasia. He takes his medication (2 pills a day) with no problem and shows no ill effects from the condition. He is completely ambulatory, keeping pace with his lively foster family! While Austin can be considered "Special Needs" because of his conditions, his foster family reports his "needs" are few but he is trully one of the most "SPECIAL" dogs around!"

Star Light, Star Bright, First star I see tonight, I wish I may, I wish I might, Wish for Austin a home tonight. Thank you for considering this exceptional dog.
