Festus is a beautiful Golden Retriever/Lab mix with perhaps a bit of herding dog mixed in for luck. Festus was born in a shelter and has spent the first two years of his life as a shelter dog. GRFR figured it was time to spring Festus and welcome him to life with a foster family in Colorado.
Everything is new to Festus. He has discovered watching TV with the family is loads of fun. So far he prefers the Hallmark channel much to foster papa's chagrin. Festus even discovered himself in the mirror. What a handsome boy. Festus gets along great with his foster siblings and walks quite well on leash. Festus knows his basic commands.
Festus is a smaller guy, athletic and around 50 lbs, with a beautiful reddish blond coat that is super soft. He is learning that cuddling is the best thing ever. Festus loves tennis balls and loves to empty the toy basket trying to find just the right toy for the moment.
Because Festus has never been without another dog GRFR feels that it would be helpful fo or Festus to have another dog in his forever family to help him continue to learn about life in a family. Festus needs a family that is willing to continue educating and working with him to teach him that people are kind and loving, just like him. A family with children over the age of 12 will be best.
Festus is very shy at first but with patience and gentle words he warms right up.
