My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Fred's adoption fee is $225.

Freddy is an approximately 9 yr. old standard silver dapple Dachshund. He is a BIG cuddle bug that just wants to be on or next to you. He’s a bit shy at first and should be allowed to come to you on his own terms, but (being a Dachshund) food helps to motivate him. He loves to run around and play, inside or when you take him outside.

Fred likes to give little kisses and he "gums" your fingers (he only has 9 of his front teeth left due to years of neglect in a Puppy Mill). His missing teeth cause him NO worries for eating, but it does make him a bit of a "slurpy" drinker.
He had a very rough start in life and can be distrustful of men. Freddy would do best in a quiet home (alone or with one other dog) with a woman who works from home or is retired. He ignores cats and has now discovered what a ball is and that it is not being thrown at him but is something meant to be chased and retrieved in play.

Fred is housetrained, but on rainy days he would rather not get wet unless you get wet also (he is starting to learn to use pee pads). He rarely barks, even when you say "Hey! You Wanna Play?" and the doorbell doesn't even faze him. At night he sleeps in his crate (prefers the bed during the day, of course), but he must be able to hear or see you or he gets sad and whines (putting his crate in our bedroom easily solved his anxiety).Fred has some arthritis, and will need to be on anti-inflammatory medication (quite inexpensive and a small dose) to manage this condition.

The funniest things about Fred are that he wags his tail in circle like a helicopter!! (which is hilarious) and he was a 'Bobbing for Wieners' Champion at Wienerfest. If this Champ is the dog you've been looking for, please contact us to ask for an adoption application.
