My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ellie was rescued from a home in Corpus after the police went in for a drug bust. Ellie was living under the trailer home and the conditions were so bad, the Animal Control officer said that it was a cruelty case. Ellie is extremely under weight. You can see every bone in her body. She also has a sever skin infection, has sores all over her body and her feet are swollen. The infection is so bad, she looks like a pink dog. She was also covered with fleas and ticks, the nails were very long and her ears were full of gunk.

Once Ellie made it into rescue, she got a medicated bath, picked the ticks off, got her nails trimmed, ears clean and gave her a bowl full of food. Ellie ate like she’s been starved for days. She didn't mind the bath, in fact, she kind of liked it. I am sure it made her feel a lot better once we got all the stink off.

After Ellie was cleaned up, we did a second examination. We determined that Ellie is only about a year old. Too bad she has had such bad life so far, but it’s only going to get better now. We started her on antibiotics and meds for Mange. She was also spayed and got utd on vaccinations. Luckily is was tested neg. for Heartworms.

In the short time we have had Ellie, she already made a huge progress. She is looking/feeling so much better, gaining weight and we can see the new hair growth. We determined that she is about 10 months old. She is learning to be an inside pet and she is loving it. She is a sweetheart, she enjoys getting attention and playing with toys.

Since Ellie had a rough life so far and she hasn’t had much training, she will need a home with someone who could work with her. Also, we prefer that she goes to a home with other large dogs, so she will have playmates.

If you would like to help Ellie, donate for her care or maybe provide her with a new loving home, please email us or fill out the adoption application on our website.
