Roderick's Story...
Roderick is a friendly Red Tick hound/Greyhound mix, who is shy when you first meet him, but who also warms up pretty quickly to just about anyone. He likes treats, and he’s learning how to “sit.” He seems to be very content to snuggle up next to someone or go on a nice quiet walk. He’s pretty good on a leash, and he doesn’t pull much; he’s fairly content to stay by your side and sniff around. If you have any questions about this cute boy. If you have any questions please free free to e-mail at newbestfriend@fortdefiancehumanesociety.org or call 419-658-2298 we are open 12pm-5pm 7 days a week.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Roderick, a Defiance Redtick Coonhound/Greyhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Redtick Coonhound/Greyhound for sale in Defiance, or seeking a Redtick Coonhound/Greyhound dog from a breeder in Defiance.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Defiance already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Defiance breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Redtick Coonhound/Greyhound breeders who help with Redtick Coonhound/Greyhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Defiance paves the way for another one to be saved.
