Elmer's Story...
Meet Elmer! Elmer's nickname is "Mr. Goofball". He has short basset hound legs and a lonnnng basset hound body & ears but more of a beagle face. He is about 4 1/2 months old. Elmer was saved from the kill shelter with his siblings on his very last day..whew! He weighs 20 lbs and will only be a medium size dog at adulthood. Every picture I tried to take shows his silly smile! Elmer thinks toys are just the greatest thing on earth and he really loves a good rawhide bone or a hoof too. He gets along great with everyone and everything! He also loves the water...he swims in his big giant water bowl regularly so it would be great if he found a home with a kiddie pool just for him, or a pond nearby that he could explore. Elmer can come to his new home on Labor Day weekend when his shots and neutering is completed!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Elmer, a Staunton Beagle/Basset Hound puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Beagle/Basset Hound for sale in Staunton, or seeking a Beagle/Basset Hound puppy from a breeder in Staunton.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Staunton already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Staunton breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Beagle/Basset Hound breeders who help with Beagle/Basset Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Staunton paves the way for another one to be saved.
