My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Jack! Jack is a 5 year old puppy mill survivor. Like nearly all puppy mill alumni, Jack was not properly socialized as a puppy, and he will need to be in a forever home with a friendly, confident dog to show Jack how to be a friendly, confident dog himself.

This handsome boy is so goofy your heart will melt. He's like a puppy in a big dog's body, not always sure what to do with his paws. Right now Jack weighs about 70 pounds, but he still needs to gain some more. Not a big deal for this guy because he loves treats! Right now (with treat motivation) Jack will come and sit very nicely. Attending an obedience class with Jack will not only teach him to do what you ask,it is very helpful for bonding, and it will also give him a more
confidence.

Jack is also a great walker, he rarely pulls and likes to walk right beside you. But boy, does this guy kick up his heels when he walks, he is quite the (uncoordinated) prancer. He gets along with big dogs, but is not sure whether toy-sized dogs are dogs or toys. He chases cats. Jack can be frightened by loud noises and unpredictable movements. He is not a good fit for a home with children under 10 or so.

GRFR has many puppy mill dogs among our alumni. Although it takes patience and some extra work, the results are amazing. If you have a fairly large, friendly, confident dog, are willing to take a dog to a training class, and you want to make a real difference in a dog's life, please consider Jack!
Please note: Jack will need a forever family with another confident dog.
