ROBY's Story...
"Roby," with his big, round, brown eyes looks a little like "Sammy" the Rice University Owls' mascot but "Roby" is a (purebred?) Shih Tzu. "Roby" has a light slivery grey coat, which doesn't shed but must be stripped twice a year and brushed daily. He has a long, low body on his 15 pound muscular frame and a "scimitar" tail shaped like the curved blade of a sword. True to his breed, "Roby" is confident, intelligent and has an independent nature. He prefers people to other dogs. He is very loyal and loving and is ever on the alert to his surroundings, waiting and praying to hear those welcome words, "Hey, Roby" do you want to go for a walk? " So, if you are looking for an excellent and affectionate companion, come over to the Rice University Farmer's Market this Tuesday from 4-7pm, and meet "Roby" our adorable Shih Tzu. He'll happily save his next walk for you. Contact Janice at or 713.592.2299 to arrange a meeting with Roby.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

ROBY, a Houston Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Houston, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
