My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This poor boy is another unwanted pet dumped at an animal control shelter in GA by his owner who decided that this dog got too big and is just too much trouble. The consent to have him euthanized have been signed and no one even looked back. Luckily he was transferred to Southern Hope Humane Society to get one more chance in life. Please consider adopting this beautiful Miniature Pinscher.

Racket is a hardy little fellow, who is proud, and courageous. Spirited and alert, with high energy. Intelligent, lively and brave. Haven't met a stranger. Very friendly towards people and good with other pets. Rides well in cars, leash trained and seems to be housetrained as well. Not a big barker.

This boy needs a daily walk. Play will take care of a lot of his exercise needs, however, as with all breeds, play will not fulfill the primal instinct to walk. Dogs who do not get to go on daily walks are more likely to display behavior problems. Racket will also enjoy a good romp in a safe open area off lead, such as a large fenced in yard. Make sure any yard in which they can run loose has a fence high enough to prevent determined efforts to escape and explore.

The smooth, short-haired, hard coat is easy to groom. Comb and brush with a firm bristle brush, and shampoo only when necessary. You can remove loose hair by wiping the coat with a warm damp cloth. This breed is an average shedder.

Loyal pet. Wonderful family companion. Ideal for an active household.

Racket is only 1 year old and weights 10 lbs. Full grown.

The adoption fee on Racket is $325. He has been neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed, and microchipped. He is also heartworm negative.

If you would like to begin the application process please fill in the form at the link above and we will forward your information to the rescue for their review. We will call your references and vet reference if applicable. If you are renting please note you must have a written letter of permission from your landlord to own a dog on their property.

The rescue will be conducting interviews for adopters at our event weekend in Killingworth, CT at the end of this month. Pre-screened adopters will be interviewed first and then walk-in applications will be reviewed. As a policy the rescues will not hold dogs for potential adopters so it is important to come to the event Saturday morning if you have your heart set on a particular dog. We will be posting more information on each dog as we get closer to the event weekend.
