Scarlett's Story...
This submissive, gentle-natured dog loves to poke her nose in your pockets looking for a hot dog treat. Scarlett obeys the sit, down, off, wait, come, and shake commands plus walks beautifully on a leash with people she knows. She has learned to wait for permission to go through a doorway or gate. She is crate trained and shows good manners indoors. She's never destructive. Her sleek coat is shiny black with red points and a tiny white area on her chest. Scarlett enjoys a routine and structure in her life. She's quite content letting you be the leader in the household and is most willing to obey you. Scarlett absolutely loves chew bones. When she's shown a bone, Scarlett's eyes get shiny bright, her tail whips back and forth vigorously, and she grins from ear to ear. She has been spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, and takes heartworm prevention. A home with another dog in the household is desirable for Scarlett as she gains confidence around another confident dog. Scarlett weighs 54 pounds, a fine size for many households. Scarlett needs time to adjust to a new environment and new people before she shows you her lighthearted, playful side. She's shy with new people even though she's never been mistreated. It would likely take several weeks for her to adjust to a new home. A structured home with an established, consistent routine and no young or rowdy children would help Scarlett adjust to a new life. She plays well with medium and large breed dogs, but doesn't enjoy puppies or small breed dogs in her face. Scarlett knows to leave cats alone and has been ok with cats rubbing against her. She's used to horses. Her timid, nonaggressive nature is best matched with a calm adult household. She'd make a good footwarmer as you read a book since she chills out so well indoors. Her adoption fee is waived for the adopter who will be patient and help Scarlett adapt to a new home.
