My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Laela is a loving, affectionate 9 year old purebred German shepherd. She is in great physical condition: perfect weight, lovely coat, and just had her teeth cleaned. She takes a once-weekly chewable tablet for urinary incontinence (common in female dogs) but has never had a single accident in her foster home. She also has a harmless fatty bump on her side. Laela is very intelligent and learns new commands quickly. She can sit, lie down, shake hands, and she has been trained to sit patiently to be fed, have her leash put on, and wait for permission to go out the front door. She loves walks and gets very excited for them. She has favorite toys that she carries around the house, we call them her "babies" because she is very gentle with them. Laela is a lower-energy dog, happy to follow you around the house and lounge most of the day. She is very people-oriented, happy to be part of a human pack. Laela has had difficulty getting along with other dogs when on leash, although she does fine with other dogs when she's off leash. She has been receiving Behavior Adjustment Training for this behavior and has improved a great deal, but is still occasionally agitated by other dogs in public places. As a precaution, Laela should always be walked on a pinch collar to give her owners more control over her if she becomes reactive. She is also not a good candidate for off-leash parks. She would probably do best as an only dog in a calm, quiet home. A home with children over the age of 12 would be fine and owners committed to her ongoing training and daily walks is a must. Laela is such a sweet, friendly dog with many more good years to come. Please open up your home to Lovely Laela.
