Ava's Story...
Ava is a sweet dog who loves people, including young children - she's been around kids ages 2 - 6 yrs old.
She also gets along good with dogs and cats. She is a very playful and active 38 pound girl (she needs daily walks and outdoor exercise) but she can calm down when you want her to. She knows how to 'sit' and understands 'no'. Note: Ava is only at CAP on weekends. Please email weekendsponsor@cap4pets.org to see if she will be here this weekend.

This pet comes with a 30-day gift of Sheltercare pet insurance, the number one brand of pet insurance for adopted pets. Over 3 million adopted pets have already been insured!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ava, a Houston American Pit Bull Terrier/Boxer dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Pit Bull Terrier/Boxer for sale in Houston, or seeking a American Pit Bull Terrier/Boxer dog from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Pit Bull Terrier/Boxer breeders who help with American Pit Bull Terrier/Boxer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
