Dustin's Story...
FeLeuk negative, DOB August 1, 2009. Dustin was found when TCR arrived to rescue another kitty (Tia, adopted). It was awful to see his collar was nearly choking him and his cream-coloured fur was horribly matted. It was apparent he had been struggling outdoors for quite some time. The TCR volunteer who took the call for Tia nicknamed Dustin "Creamy McDreamy", because she knew this boy would clean up NICE - and boy did he ever!

Living outside for a time took its toll, and Dustin acquired Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). FIV+ cats may have compromised immune systems making them more vulnerable to infections and other conditions. FIV+ cats, however, can live long, healthy lives, especially with a good diet and indoor living. It is also possible for FIV+ cats to live with other cats who do not have the virus themselves as it is only transmitted through aggressive fighting and biting.

Dustin is a genteel boy. It is obvious that someone once loved him, and taught him good manners. How he became a stray will always be a mystery. Dustin prefers to lounge around watching the world go by. He will never leave your side as long as you're scratching his face. He just loves soaking up a good face rub. He also gets along well with other cats. This darling boy deserves a second chance with a loving family, who will keep him safe and happy all the days of his life.

About Our Rescue Group...
Toronto Cat Rescue is a no-kill, non-profit, 100% volunteer group. TCR helps find homes for homeless, abandoned, sick or injured cats, as well as helps cats escape situations of abuse, neglect, or imminent euthanasia. TCR relies on volunteers to foster cats in their homes until a cat lover comes along to adopt them, so we know the cats personalities in a home setting! TCR saves cats from Toronto, GTA & Kitchener area.
Our Adoption Process...
Decided on the kitty you would like to adopt? Please call the TCR Hotline - 416-538-8592 (press 1 for adoptions and leave a message) or email: tcr.adoptions@gmail.com for a pre-adoption interview.

An adoption coordinator will return your call and give you more details about the cat you are interested in and ask some questions about your home to make sure the cat will be a "purr-fect" fit. We are happy to answer any questions you may have as well.

Next you will be supplied with the foster home address to have a meet and greet with your kitty. If both parties are happy, you can sign the TCR Contract of Adoption, pay the adoption fee and take your kitty home with you (in a safe carrying case).

Adoption fee is $175 per cat. This ensures that the cats that come into our care receive the attention they need, are spayed or neutered, and receive a rabies vaccination at the appropriate age. It also includes 6 weeks of free pet insurance. As you can imagine, these fees only begin to cover our costs; donations and ongoing fundraising efforts carry us the rest of the way!
