Sophie's Story...
Sophie has a voice when she wants attention! She howls! So funny and cute! She was brought in as a stray to the Cabot, AR, shelter, completely matted and covered with live maggots....her ears in particular full of them...After a close hair cut and many baths, she is clean and her pretty face and spirit are shining through! By the end of the first day with us, she had mapped the house and yard and learned to go to the door when she needs to go out. She gladly plays with our other 7 dogs, but when she wants attention, she lets us know. At bedtime or naptime, she sleeps HARD and sleeps all night, rarely waking up during the night...she walks well on leash and loves to ride in the car... Sophie is overall a laid-back dog that likes to snuggle and loves attention. She will make someone a wonderful companion.

Rescue Group Info...

About Our Rescue Group...
We are a small group of volunteers spread throughout the United States (and even a couple in Canada) who are dedicated to advocating for blind and visually impaired dogs by rescuing dogs in shelters, helping blind dog owners, and educating the public. We formed in 2009, though our members have many years of experience in rescue, and in blind dogs.
Our Adoption Process...
Interested in adopting a BDRA Dog? Simply fill out our application. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered,
up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm and flea/tick preventive.

We ask a $200 adoption fee. This does not begin to cover the vetwork we do on our dogs, which is why
we are always fundraising!

Keep in mind that Blind Dog Rescue Alliance will transport dogs to their potential adopters. So do not let distance discourage you.

Please email info@blinddogrescue.com with any questions.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sophie, a Philadelphia Cocker Spaniel dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Cocker Spaniel for sale in Philadelphia, or seeking a Cocker Spaniel dog from a breeder in Philadelphia.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Philadelphia already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Philadelphia breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Cocker Spaniel breeders who help with Cocker Spaniel rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Philadelphia paves the way for another one to be saved.
