My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

August 29, 2011

Dazy Mae was spayed last week and everything went fine. She weighed in at a bare 12 pounds. She is learning to play fetch but sometimes forgets to bring back the toy. She does love her toys usually stock piling her favorites in front of her crate. She has been dubbed the collector by my family. She likes to play tug with her foster brothers and even gets mad when they won't play with her. She is a pretty rough and tumble little girl easily keeping up with the boys during tag although she is not above cheating a little to keep up the speed by grabbing a hold on the other dogs rough and hanging on for dear life.

She is still shy with meeting new people but once she gets to know you watch out cause she will climb right into your lap and make herself comfortable for a long stay. She does not seem to like children mostly because they move to quickly and she has not had much exposure to them. She can be a bit of a drama queen if you startle her or if she doesn't get her way but we are working with her on this.

Born April 26, 2011 of a purebred Border collie mom and an unknown dad (best guess would be a basset hound). Dazy Mae and her 5 siblings were orphaned at the age of 3 weeks when their mom was hit and killed by a car. Unable to care for so many young ones their owner dropped them at the local shelter. The shelter scrambled to find a surrogate mom but none could be found. Finally 2 very brave ladies stepped up to the plate and took them into their home to bottle feed until they were old enough to go to foster homes of their own.

Dazy Mae and her brother Leo came to MidAmerica Border Collie Rescue when they were about 8 weeks old.

Dazy Mae may not look like a border collie but she sure acts like one and is going to make a great addition to some lucky family.
