Sammy's owners write:
"The perfect dog needs to find the perfect environment

Sammy has brought tremendous joy to our lives since the Delaware Valley Wiemaraner Rescue placed him with us in February 2004, after being abandoned by his previous owners. At the time he was malnourished and severely underweight, but his love of food and exercise quickly turned him into the model healthy dog. We immediately learned that Sammy is extremely loyal and will follow us anywhere we let him.

Not fully knowing his background, Sammy was put through obedience training, where he excelled to the head of his class. He learned to heel, sit, automatically sit, stay and lie down, either on or off the leash. Sammy knows to be “nice” when given treats (he just LOVES food and can be overeager at times). He does not jump up. He is not a chewer and does not need to be crated when left alone in the house. Sammy is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and fully house trained. Sammy’s favorite pastime is to have his belly rubbed, which he will offer whenever you ask.

It breaks our hearts to even consider the thought of giving up such a wonderful dog. We believe that his previous owners abused Sammy, as he is a very nervous dog. He cowers at loud noises and quick motions of the arms or legs. Unfortunately, Sammy has nipped people on the back of the leg when they have scared him. To help ease Sammy’s mental distress, he now takes Clomipramine (Clomicalm), which has helped tremendously in his interactions with humans. Unfortunately, Sammy still fights with our other rescued Weimaraner, Frankie. Though they are inseparable most of the time, it is just not fair to either dog for us to keep them together if one of them might get hurt.

We firmly believe that Sammy will thrive in a single-dog, childless home. Anyone who meets Sammy will fall in love with the sound his tail makes on the floor when he is happy, the regal way he holds himself in a sitting position, and his adorable kookiness."
