My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dempsey is a 9 month old, 7-1/2 lb. Shih Tzu who's had a really rough start to his little life. He was born with a defect to his spine - it didn't grow all the way to his tailbone. Without that connection, the only thing the vet could do was amputate his tail after birth. Also, due to the defect, Dempsey tends to leak urine. He can't help it. He's not a bad boy. But, because he leaked anyway, his previous owner never bothered to take him out. She just kept him in the tiny kitchen 24/7 and mopped up and picked up after him. He wasn't allowed in the rest of the house with the family. He's learning now what going out means - and having freedom of the house. But he can never completely empty his bladder, so we keep a bellyband on him at all times. We think it's an adorable fashion statement! These days you always see little dogs wearing clothing as they take their walks! Dempsey's just happens to be more functional than just cute. Also helps to keep your lap dry, because that's where he likes to spend all of his time! Dempsey is wonderful with other dogs - cats, too. Please don't apply for him if you think that with love and training he can be completely housetrained. It won't happen. Sort of like taking care of an infant - except that this one gives sweet puppy kisses! Dempsey is being fostered in south Jersey and his asking adoption fee is $300. E-MAIL INQUIRIES WILL BE RESPONDED TO FASTER THAN TELEPHONE CALLS.
