Polly's Story...
This is pretty little Polly. She is a one year old dapple Dachshund and Beagle mix with a sweet face and a happy personality. It's very difficult to get a good picture of her because she has one partially blue eye that just doesn't show up well!

Polly has had a rough first year that culminated in her having to sit in a high-kill shelter hoping that someone would save her. One of the volunteers really felt that this girl deserved a chance at a better life and asked if we could step in to help her....and we couldn't say no to that face. She has been in a loving foster home now for a couple of weeks to help her get acclimated to being cared for, fed and, most of all, loved...and she is really blossoming. This girl is the quinessential lap dog. She's just as happy as a clam to laze around on your lap for the good part of the day, maybe getting up now and again for a few biscuits and some time playing with her toys. Speaking of toys...this girl cherishes them like nothing we've ever seen. She will pull every single one out of her basket and then take her time selecting which one catches her fancy. It's really quite funny to watch.

We really think that it would be best for Polly to be in a home without very young children. She does not dislike kids in any way, but because she loves her toys so very much and seems to truly bond wholeheartedly with her people, she may have a difficult time adjusting to the idea of having to share those things with a little person that may not understand her. She does well with other dogs, but we would also ask that she be the only alpha female in her home so as to avoid any undue stress on her and her new family. She does just fine with males and submissive females, of course.

Polly is up-to-date on her vaccines, wormed and spayed. If you think that you would like to offer Polly her forever home, please contact us via the e-mail link below for an application.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Polly, a Claymont Dachshund/Beagle dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund/Beagle for sale in Claymont, or seeking a Dachshund/Beagle dog from a breeder in Claymont.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Claymont already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Claymont breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund/Beagle breeders who help with Dachshund/Beagle rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Claymont paves the way for another one to be saved.
