Velvet's Story...
Ok, put your sad story slippers on and wrap yourself in my blanket of sorrow while you listen to my story.....But then put on your driving shoes and your save-a-dog suit and hurry on down to Family Dogs to adopt me!!! See, I was living in an orchard with my mom and siblings…living the hobo life. Some nice lady was leaving us food…life wasn't so bad…but then mom got hit by a car …and suddenly us babes were all alone. Sad, sad, sad and alone. Life is hard for homeless pups with no mama to take care of us…I’m still happy, social, and fun, fun, fun despite all that I've been through. I’m just hoping a nice person like you will give me a forever home.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Velvet, a Portland Labrador Retriever/Border Collie puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Border Collie for sale in Portland, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Border Collie puppy from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Border Collie breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Border Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
