My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Underdog is proud to present Petey!
Hi, my name is Petey and I am so happy I was saved! I was wandering on a very busy highway they call I-95 and a very nice man pulled over and I ran over to him because I am very friendly. I jumped in his car and off we went! I was so happy that someone took me in, I was very hungry and I didn't have a place to call my own.
The nice man took me home where I met his nice wife and their 5 other happy doggies and kitties! I was in heaven! I had a safe place to call home, plenty of food, water and I went to see the nice doctor and he gave me medicine to get rid of all my parasites.
I love being here, but I know that I cannot stay forever and that there is a home out there for me. I love to play and wrestle with my other doggy pals, I like to swim and go for walks but most of all I just LOVE ATTENTION FROM YOU!
I hope to meet you soon and be a part of your family! Here is what my rescuer has to say about me.

Petey is an amazingly sweet and fun loving dog. He has never met a person, dog or cat that he does not LOVE and want to meet and play with. Petey has a great energy but can also be very calm and mellow after he gets his daily walks.
Being that is he is a Pitt Bull we know that his breed is often mislabeled and misunderstood as "aggressive" and "vicious". He has been in foster home for over 10 months waiting and during that time he has not once exhibited any sort of aggressive behavior towards any of the dogs in our home or the cats. However, there have been instances where another dog has attacked and bit him first over a bone or other issue and unfortunately since Petey is the bigger, stronger dog once he bites back he tends to inflict more damage.

Anyone considering making Petey a family member should be able to exhibit "calm assertive" energy and be patient, just like The Dog Whisperer.
Petey responds well to a calm stern voice, not to yelling or physical force. He is also very food and treat motivated and we have had great deal of success in keeping him focused to train him using treats as a motivator.
He would be an excellent ambassador of the breed with a person who can spend the time giving him the attention he deserves.

Petey is crate trained, housebroken, walks well on a leash, and knows basic commands. He even has his own cute tricks he does all on his own, Like the bunny hop, and curling himself up into a tiny ball to fit in his favorite chair! He ABSOLUTELY LOVES WATER no matter where it is, a lake, a hose, the ocean. He will dive right in for a drink. He will even follow you into the shower, which makes bathing him very easy too!
He's been neutered and received all his vaccines and has no existing medical issues.
He is a big goofy love and just wants some attention and love back. Wont you consider giving Petey a home?
