My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A Shelter volunteer noted "Styles is a beautiful, patient animal."
Absolutely! This neutered 2-year old AmStaff / Red Heeler Mix (Peeler) is
a good, patient dog. When the photographer's hands got too cold to shoot, he put
them along Styles' head to warm them up. Styles merely looked at him as if
to say "I am pleased to give you comfort." Besides warmth and comfort,
Styles offered fur as soft as velvet. He made the photographer forget he
was supposed to take photos. Understandably, Styles is sad. He's lost the
only home he's known since he was a puppy, and he was an only dog so he had his owner all for himself until he was given up. If you brought him into your
home and life, you'd be giving him and yourself a great gift. He
positively adores men and women. However, he gets very excited around
young and rambunctious little children. So, he'd do best in a household
with adults and mature kids 14 years and up.

From Styles' foster mom:

Styles is doing GREAT! He is really well adjusted indoors (well behaved, house broken, only barks if someone is ringing the doorbell, only eats HIS food/no begging, doesn't get into the garbage...). On the leash he is improving rapidly. There is still a tendency to tug at the leash if not handled properly but I think it's just a matter of practice. We walk / run for an hour every morning. He is still a bit shy if corrected (I do think his previous owner used a heavy hand with him and so he is sensitive, this too is probably a matter of practice). He will let me clean his ears, give him a bath, look at his teeth/paws without any trouble. He is very trusting and submissive... a true gentleman. He is a VERY social dog. Approaching any human with ears back and head low. He will ignore other dogs if you give him warning and is pretty good with meeting other dogs (he is big and can come at them full on but if they challenge them he will mind me and sit at my feet). We have been in Petco and he didn't seem to respond to the cats in the cages there but I'm not sure how he would be at home with a cat since we haven't experienced that together yet. Everybody he meets just falls in love with his gentle and friendly nature. I have considered keeping him because he is nearly the perfect pet - truely! His trusting and eager to please nature have endeard me to him more than I can say.
