My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATED BIO 09/13/2011: HARLEY is an adorable little 1 year old, very skinny 5 lb yorkie boy - he is being fostered in Madeira Beach, FL. Harley is healing up just as expected from his b-i-g liver shunt surgery last week, and should have his sutures out in 6 days - yeah! Harley is acclimating well in his foster home, but he appears to be a frightened little boy - he will run in the house with his little tail between his legs and cower in the corner, as if he is going to be punished for something - so sad! Foster Mom sits by him on the floor, talking to him and petting him until he relaxes enough so that she can pick him up. He did cry and whine a lot when he came home from the hospital after surgery, so FM held him a lot so that he would overcome his fear and discomfort. He is doing much better now that he feels so much better - the crying has stopped and the whining isn't as often. Harley will need to be on RX food for the rest of his life, and this isn't any more expensive than the normal dog food. His owners will have to be sure he does not have anything other than his RX food, no table food! Fruits and veggies are okay, though! NOTE: Harley's surgery cost $1,900 - it is only through your generous donations that UYR can continue to take in theswe little yorkies that have such expensive surgeries. Please consider donating to Harley's vet bill - your donation is so appreciated!

INITIAL BIO 08/31/2011: MEET HARLEY - he is an adorable little 1 year old, and a very skinny 5 lbs. He should gain at least 1 to 1-1/2 lbs to be a healthier weight. He is being fostered in Madeira Beach, FL. Harley was surrendered by his owner because she was no longer able to afford his medical care. Harley has a suspected liver shunt and will be seen by the surgeon first thing Tuesday morning. He is sweet, loving little boy - stay tuned for more info about Harley as his foster parents get to know him better. NOTE: Due to his small size, Harley cannot go into a home with children under the age of 15 years old.
