My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Brutus and his sister Bella are hound mixes, about 1 1/2 years old, who were abandoned by their owners. They are a bonded pair, and we'd love to find them a home together - but that is not required. Either will adjust to being apart as long as they have at least one loving and attentive person who can be with them most of the time. They are housetrained, enjoy children, and love to follow their noses, and to run like the wind. Brutus is pretty tolerant of other dogs, but his #1 ambition is to locate his sister and hang out with her.

If you adopt just Brutus, you should be prepared to allow him to be a bit mopey for a while, without reinforcing his loneliness by giving it attention. In time, he will release that bond and attach to his new family.

If you adopt both as a pair, you should be prepared for some energetic, fast-moving play sessions! They do sometimes get a little carried away together, and (since hounds can't seem to help but follow a scent), you would be wise to have a fenced yard for them to do their racing around.

Brutus does know "sit" and he gives his paw for a shake when he sits... however, he doesn't always FEEL like sitting, so will benefit from some retraining. He has a happy, sunny personality, and definitely has both a bark and a hound-bay - he likes to talk! Not a good apartment dog (ha), but he will be a fantastic family dog or individual companion dog.

Like all our adult pet placements, Brutus comes with a 30-day money-back trial adoption period.

Spay/neuter, worming, microchip and all age-appropriate shots are always completed before placement, and are included in the adoption fee (suggested minimum $75; DISCOUNT for pair adoption; more gratefully accepted!)

Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to both the Seattle area and Spokane, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!
