My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Belly is a wonderful boy who is still very much a puppy at heart. He's a loveable, sweet boy, who wants to be part of a family. His brown markings against a stunning white coat makes him a standout. Basic training, and exercise... is what Belly needs (and a home, of course).

Part American bulldog, part American Stafforshire Terrier, Belly was picked up from the streets of the Bronx this past winter by NYC Animal Control, where he was then placed in the City's shelter in East Harlem. He was rescued from the shelter the day before he was slated to be euthanized, and he has since been in a foster home.

Belly is a very strong, active, athletic, and playful dog. He loves going for a run, and he can jog along for several miles at a pretty good pace. Belly is fully housebroken, and he will even let you know when he needs to go outside. He is probably a little over a year old, and he still has a lot of puppy in him. Belly needs additional obedience training, but he has shown great progress thus far - he is a smart dog and is willing to learn. He is very friendly with people and most other dogs, although he tends not to get along that well with larger male dogs.

Weighing 85 pounds, Belly can be quite a handful when he gets overly-excited or decides to be mischievous. Therefore, he will need to go to a home with someone who is an experienced large-dog owner. Belly will only be placed into a home without cats, as he wants to chase them whenever he sees them. He is good with kids, but because of his size, he should only go to a home with older children.

With a little more discipline and training, Belly has the potential to be an absolutely tremendous dog. He is a "big-hearted" dog, and he will be a loyal, steadfast companion for his new owner.
