My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATE 9/26/11: Graci has been with us now almost a month, has been spayed, is gaining weight and her health is much improved! Graci is a true Yorkie! Graci claims what's hers is hers and what's yours is hers! Her new Mommy/Daddy will be allowed to live with "her" ....with Yorkies, it's never the other way around, and Graci is no exception! She ignores the cats pretty much - too boring for her...but....we have found she is less tolerant of her foster siblings, and of the other female yorkies in the house, and we have seen her display some aggression towards both - she has definitely come out of her shell! We are continuing to assess her as we get to know her more now that she is no longer ill or depressed.

UPDATE 9/13/11: Hi everyone! It's me Graci! So much has happened to me in the last week! First, I am NOT an old geriatric pup - according to the vets, I am about 3-5 years old, and I do not qualify for AARP! How do you like my new "do"? Because I was so dirty and matted, I was shaved down, given an unprofessional grooming by the vet techs, but don't I now look like a million dollar pup?! My next trip will be to a real "salon" I'm sure, cause my foster Mom has promised I will be going to a furever home that will treat me like the princess I deserve to be and says I am a sweet, "gracious" little lady! I have just had my operation so that I will not have puppies, have all my shots, I am eating well, and am getting healthy again! Foster mom and her furkids have been so nice to me - I love chillin with her yorkie kids and we get along great, but those kitties I'm still not sure about.... I really want my own Mommy and Daddy, my own house and my own snuggy bed, please... - I will be ready to move in before the end of this month - I don't have much baggage, but I do have a lot of love to share - could it be with you?

Initial Bio - 9/1/11: Please Meet Gracious (aka Graci!) (formerly Ginger).

Graci was in a shelter as an owner surrender from someone who had her at most 90 days – her history before that is unknown. The shelter listed her as a senior 12 years old with kennel cough and put her on a list to be 'put to sleep' August 31 so we went to the shelter and brought her home. This little baby is a neglected, undernourished, young Blue and Gold Yorkie - what she needs is love and some good solid meals!

We attempted to give her a bath, but the matts were just too much - hard to tell where the matts ended and skin began – she needs to be shaved. Her hair is grown down past her eyes - during her bath we gently poured water over her eyes and carefully with a soft toothbrush eventually cleared her eyes so she could see - almost completely closed up with green "gunk" ...what a mess....we let the warm water flow over her for about 15 minutes and she just stood in the sink and you could see her little body relaxing as if to say thank you...then we carefully patted her dry, put on a pretty pink hair bow to get the hair off her eyes, a pink harness and leash and we went for a walk...she saw the cats, was very curious – no aggression - she was excellent on the leash - loves to walk. She ate some wet food like our other pups and drank well (but not excessive) - snuggled down in her crate, took her bow off and went to sleep! No accidents in the crate at all.

She was excellent in the car going to the vet and staying for a few days for kennel cough. The vet estimates her age 3-4 years old. He says she is in poor condition and not taken care of well, needs to gain weight (currently 8.2 lbs, but needs to be at least 2 lbs heavier), is eating well, has a great temperament – sees no aggression or major health issues and needs to be spayed. Please come back to read updates on Graci and when she will be available for adoption.
