Howie is a 67 pound Chow mix. He was found by a family 5 years ago who never intended to keep him. He has been an outside dog, chained to a dog house. He is learning to be a good house dog and he really loves to be inside and he LOVES people. He is making up for lost puppy time and can be pretty comical and playful. He LOVES playing with socks and will make you laugh! He is very loving and enjoys being near people. He is okay with dogs that are smaller than him and okay with senior dogs. There are some large dogs that he seems to find threatening, and he acts accordingly. He does like to rough house but does understand that seniors don't want to play like that. . I would not advise placing him in a home with a dog over 40 pounds unless the dog were very submissive and the dogs had an opportunity to meet before adoption. Around cats he can be curious for a short period of time and may give chase but he is not relentless or persistent. He is absolutely wonderful and loving with people. Because of his size he might not be well placed with very small children simply because he might knock them down. However his disposition with people is impeccable. He is learning to walk well on a leash. He enjoys walks, and he enjoys running around the yard. A fence of some sort (traditional, IF or Radio Fence) will be required. He asks that he never be put on a chain again. He is in good health, UTD with Rabies, Bordatella and DHLPP. He is heartworm negative and on heartworm preventive and flea preventive. He is neutered and recently had his teeth cleaned. I cannot emphasize how loving this boy is, and he is eagerly learning the ropes as a house dog. He will make someone or some family a super companion. Please consider giving this guy a forever home with the life he deserves.
Adoption fee is $100. Contact Jody at (419) 722-3204 if you would like to make Howie a part of your family forever.
