My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Star (female) FOUND TERRIFIED AND FROZEN IN FEAR TO THE SIDE RAIL OF AN I-49 OVERPASS!!

I was so terrified. Somehow, I ended up on an I-49 overpass. I was frozen with fear as all the huge cars and trucks sped by me. A man passed me and thought I was a piece of trash and when he realized I was a dog, it was too late. He raced to the next exit and came back around. By then, a woman had also stopped, along with two police cars. The man scooped me up, but didn’t know what to do... so, he asked the police officers for advise. They TOLD HIM to DROP ME OFF AT THE NEXT EXIT!! WHAT!!?? Thankfully, the man didn’t listen. He took me to his daughter’s house. She has other dogs, so cannot keep me, but wants to make sure I go to a responsible, caring home. I’m still terrified of almost everything, but I do not bite and I’m not aggressive at all. I need a home that has the time and patience to help me transition into trusting humans again. I spend most of my time in my kennel with the door open because I feel safe in there. When no one is watching me, I’m very playful. I want to trust humans, but don’t know how. An understanding, caring, soft-spoken person can bring me out of my shell. I’m a little girl at only about 10 pounds and appear to be a Chihuahua mix of some sort. I was in very bad shape when I was found, but my caring rescuers have nursed me back to health. I do need shots and I don’t think I’ve been spayed. I travel well, but the leash scares me. I would need more training with that. I’m not completely housetrained and would need help with that too. I’m not destructive and not a barker. Ideally, a home without small children and more of a quiet setting would be best for me. Other dogs don’t bother me, nor do cats... but I do tend to just want to be by myself. If you’d like to give me a chance at finally a caring, loving home, please call Renee at 318-965-1204. There is a screening process to adopt me and my adoption fee is a suggested donation to Pet Savers of $30 for their help in rehoming me and to help assure I go to a good home. Once you adopt me, PLEASE get me spayed/neutered to help control the HUGE overpopulation and euthanasia rate in this area. Robinson’s Rescue low-cost Spay/Neuter Clinic (Shreveport) offers special low-cost pricing for spaying and neutering. Call 318-861-0101 for your spay/neuter appointment ONLY, not about me!
