Important Note

Maya is best friends with James. Please adopt both of them so they can stay together!

Maya's Info...

I am already spayed, housetrained, purebred, up to date with shots, not good with kids, good with dogs, and not good with cats.

Maya's Story...
Maya is a big, gentle giant of a dog. She was surrendered by her owners, and was very sick. After spending over six months at a vet, she recovered--with just some stiffness in her hips. She is lean, loves to go for walks and has a BFF, James, a tri-color Min Pin/Coonhound mix youngster, who is about 40 bls. They wait for each other to go outside and always come in together.

Maya is an adult dog and is around 100 lbs. Due to her size, we are not open to adopting to homes with small kids. Would prefer adults or older children who at least would not get knocked over if she leaned on them. She is very gentle and loves to "talk" and show you her new bone! She is very expressive. James, is very smart and patient and more active. They are both crate trained and love soft quilts to sleep on.

We'd have to evaluate a situation where there are other animals in the home. Dogs who are gentle/like to play and are not aggressive would be fine. Would not recommend tiny dogs (under 20 lbs or cats).

Home visit required.

About Firststop-Laststop Rescue Ranch

About Our Rescue Group...

The FSLS Rescue Ranch is primarily a special needs sanctuary for animals who are here to recover, hospice or spend the rest of their lives in a protected, specialized environment. Occasionally, we rescue animals who are not injured or who have recovered and can be adopted out.

The process of adopting these animals is a little more sensitive than normal since we want to ensure they will be extra safe and that their medications, braces, etc. will be used properly and maintained. We do this because not many else do--these animals would be euthanized because of injuries or illnesses that their owners cannot afford or don't want to deal with.

These animals have so much life and love in them, we believe that they should have a second chance to know love again.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Very infrequently. Usually one on one meetings/private adoptions.

Our Adoption Process...

If you are interested in adopting one of our puppies/dogs, we require an application first, which should include information about your home, fenced yard required; the people and animals in your home as well as the hours that the animal/s will be left alone.

Our animals are not kept in boarding kennels and are used to a home environment. A vet and two personal references are required and will be contacted to make sure that you have been responsible and loving pet owners.

All animals are introduced to the family and pets and a home visit is required. Adopters are then given time to get ready for the animal coming into their home if the home visit went well. An adoption fee of $75 is due at adoption.

All animals are always welcome back for life if the adoption does not work out.
