LEIZA's Story...
Leiza is a one-year-old Lab mix pup. In September 2010, we happened to be in the busy lobby of BARC, the City of Houston's Bureau of Animal Regulation and Control, where most of the people waited to turn in dogs. One couple had a box with a yellow nylon cord tied loosely around it and kept shuffling it along the floor, as they moved up the line. Out of curiosity, we asked, "What's in the box?" and were shocked to see four pitiful puppies - Leiza and her 3 siblings - with sores and fleas all over their bodies, We knew they faced certain death if left at the city pound, so we brought them home. After they were bathed and treated for scabies, our neighbor kindly turned her three year old son William's playhouse into a "Puppy Cottage," and there they stayed until they discovered her big backyard. Now, Leila loves to run and play and sunbathe. She has grown into beautiful, healthy young adult but is still a puppy at heart, with the sweetest temperament. Leiza would love to find a family to call her very own. Updated photos of Leiza are to come. Contact Janice at TrueBlueRescue@gmail.com to arrange a meeting with Leiza.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

LEIZA, a Houston Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Houston, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
