Mickey's Info...

Mickey's Story...
Mickey is a Spectacled Amazon, also known as a White Fronted Amazon. They are one of the smaller Amazons (about 10 inches). Mickey is 24 years old and lived most of that time with his previous owner. Unfortunately, she became ill and could no longer care for him.

Mickey loves being outside of his cage, sitting with his human family. He also loves kids but can become possessive of them and may want to guard them from their parents! He is good with adults too, when kids are not around.

Mickey will say a few things, like at bedtime he says, "Mickey go night, night!"

Mickey's approximate hatch date is 1987, and his adoption donation is $300.

For information on some of the characteristics of this bird, see this Species Profile page: http://www.staravian.org/species_profiles.html#Amazon

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mickey, a St. Louis Amazon was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Amazon for sale in St. Louis, or seeking a Amazon from a breeder in St. Louis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in St. Louis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a St. Louis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Amazon breeders who help with Amazon rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in St. Louis paves the way for another one to be saved.
