My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bear is a three year old, black Goldendoodle. He is a sweet, gentle boy who is friendly with everyone he meets. He has been raised and has been living with the same family since he was a pup. He is very well loved by his family and it is only in his best interest that they are looking to find him a new forever home.

Bear currently weighs 58 lbs and has been neutered and is micro-chipped. He is a lovely boy that enjoys people and other dogs. He is unfortunately fixated with cats and unfortunately his preoccupation is causing a tremendous stress in the home. He has never been aggressive with a cat but he continues to pace the house needing to know exactly where the cats are at all times. One of the cats in the home is blind. He is much calmer when the cats are not around. It is for this reason that his family feel he would be best suited to a home with no cats.

Here is what Bear’s family had to say about him:

Bear has been well socialized with other dogs. Although he has never been to a dog park, he has regular play dates off leash with seven dogs owned by family and friends. These are dogs of different breeds and of all sizes. The dogs play together, go for off leash hacks with horses and swim in the creeks and ponds.

Bear LOVES the water. Whether it is playing in a pond or splashing in a kiddie pool. He also enjoys running and playing in the yard no matter what the weather. Some days when his family goes to bring him in, he will prefers to stay outside chewing on his bone.

Bear would do best with an active family or a single person. He does require a large yard to play in. He is good with respectful children of all ages however he does jump up for attention on occasion. He occasionally, if very excited to see us, will try to jump up but he does settle very easily. He is a sweet, gentle boy that is NOT food motivated. He responds best to praise and affection. He will let other dogs eat out of his bowl. He is NOT an alpha dog and if in a group of dogs he will quietly wait his turn to be patted or for his turn to have a treat. He is good for the groomer but isn’t too fond of the dryer, so we usually just damp dry him. He has been raised in the country and is used to having a large yard to run around in.

Bear responds very well to his name and is great with his recall. He will sit for a treat but prefers to stand and observe his surrounds. He is crated at night and when we are not home which is usually 2 to 4 hours a day. He is happy, healthy with no health issues and is non shedding. He is used to going out in our SUV and is very obedient with staying in the back of the vehicle.

If you think that Bear would be a good addition to your family, please go to our website at uglymutts.com and submit an application for consideration.
