My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Steeler is a handsome puppy that is looking for a fun family to spend his life with. He is a happy dog that loves people and would be good as a second dog or as the only fur-buddy in the home. He will need some additional training and would do best with older children that would enjoy making him part of their day. He is just under a year old and weighs approximately 40 lbs.
Steeler was previous adopted but his family is having issues with the dog and their 4 year old. Steeler is a very happy dog who loves to play but hasn’t realized that he is too big to play with a small child.

Steeler is always happy with whatever he is doing and his tail is always wagging. He is also great with other dogs and just loves to play. He would be excellent as a second dog as long as the other dog was young and playful as well. He has not been tested around cats but we would expect that although he wouldn’t mean to hurt them, he may be too playful and overwhelm a cat. He could however be taught to be respectful of them. He has been spent time around horses and no longer barks at them.

Steeler’s new family had been working on his obedience training and he is coming along very well. He is house and crate trained and can be left for a normal working day with no issues. Obedience school would be great for Steeler to hone his skills and for bonding with his new family. He does bark but quiets easily with a “no” but would probably not do well in an apartment setting. He would do best in a home with a backyard, kids to play with and a family that was interested in making him part of the “pack”.

Here is what his current family had to say about Steeler:

Steeler is a very sweet and loving pet. He loves to run and play and he is a great companion. He will happily greet you everytime you come home, lay his head on your lap at the end of a long day and make sure you are safe.

Steeler is a very healthy dog, is crate trained, house trained, can do tricks (stay, sit, paw, down, and more) he is very bright. Steeler needs to be in a home that will reciprocate the love he gives, he needs lots of attention and time. He would be perfect for a family with older children. He would also be a perfect companion for someone who lives alone. He is a great walker, loves to play ball and run around but also likes to sit quietly beside you.

The family who adopts Steeler will be blessed with a truly amazing animal.

We wish that things had worked out differently for us, I am so sad and it breaks my heart that we need to find Steeler a new home.

If you think Steeler would be a good addition to your family, please submit an application for consideration.
