Angie's Story...
Angie is a 9 month - 1 year old year old Australian Kelpie/Lab mix who came to the shelter as a stray. Angie is a nice friendly girl who will sit and down on command, but would benefit from additional training. She is alert to her surrounding, and is somewhat nervous with loud outdoor noises. She calms down once you let her know she is safe. Angies enjoys playing with soft stuffed toys. She appears to be house trained, is good with other dogs, but no cats. Angie is food motivated so will be easy to train with some consistency.

UPDATE from former foster mom: Would be best in a home without cats. She doesn't attack them but constantly stalks them and is just making 2 of my cats super nervous. I'd say either a no cat household or one with a very strong cat that's super used to playing with dogs. Other than that she's doing great. We're working on leash training and coming when called, is much better about not jumping on people, and is crate trained now (with a little whining still but much better). She's completely potty trained and seems great with every other dog we've met. She is a dominant dog so might have issues with another dominant female but so far so good. I've taken her to a couple soccer games and after the first initial nervousness, she's really friendly with everyone and loves any attention she can get. She's a bit whiny and needy but I think she just needs stability and to know that people are always coming back for her, which comes with time and experiences. She's great with the kids, my 9 year old hauls her around on the bed and she loves to wrestle with my 12 year old. I think she'd be ok with a little one but maybe a bit pushy and wild.

Angie needs an active home with a job to do. She is just a baby and is so smart!!!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Angie, a Meridian Australian Kelpie/Labrador Retriever puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Australian Kelpie/Labrador Retriever for sale in Meridian, or seeking a Australian Kelpie/Labrador Retriever puppy from a breeder in Meridian.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Meridian already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Meridian breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Australian Kelpie/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Australian Kelpie/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Meridian paves the way for another one to be saved.
