Missy's Story...
Missy…sweet little Missy…that’s me…and I can already see the wheels a turnin’ in your head… “How does a wonderful little dog like Missy end up in a shelter?” I can tell you the answer to that. I was a country dog living the life of freedom, running the pastures, barking at the moon… you know, living the good life ....and then, I almost got eaten by cougars…more than once…so mom said “OK Missy, I love you, but yr gonna be dinner for a Cougar if I keep ya, and I can’t have that…Besides my little Missy, yr friendly and adorable as could be! You get along with kids, cats and other dogs…and yr smart and sweet as well…boy, I sure am gonna miss you!!!!” That’s what she said, then POOF! Off I went to the big city…You city folk aren’t nearly as uptight and stiff as I expected, so hopefully I can find someone to give me a new home…I really am a lovely little thing! 5 years old-12lbs. My adoption fee is $160 and includes; microchip, spay, reduced cost Training Class, free veterinary exam,1 month pet health insurance, leash/collar, food sample, toy & Treat packet.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Missy, a Portland Jack Russell Terrier/Rat Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Jack Russell Terrier/Rat Terrier for sale in Portland, or seeking a Jack Russell Terrier/Rat Terrier dog from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Jack Russell Terrier/Rat Terrier breeders who help with Jack Russell Terrier/Rat Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
