My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

River is a 3 1/2 year old (DOB 12/18/2007) heavily marked harlequin... or maybe an oddly marked mantle? Either way, this boy is the epitome of "tall, dark, and handsome". While he is a bit shy at first, he is quickly won over with a treat or two and some pets. He is extremely cuddly and loves nothing more than to climb right up on the couch or bed with you (sometimes even right ON you)! River has been known to even nudge and lean if you're not giving him enough attention... he is a big ol' softy! You wouldn't know it by his energy level, but River does have weak cruciate ligaments in his hind legs, which makes him a little stiff after long walks. A little glucosamine and a lean physique are just what the doctor ordered to keep this guy healthy! This tall boy is a professional when it comes to counter surfing; he never takes anything, but he is a "walk-by-licker" and will gladly taste whatever is in his reach. River is the big-dog-on-campus in his current foster home, where he lives with Aspen, a 2 year old female dane (also available for adoption) and his pug sister, Furie. He gets along well with both girls, but he does keep them in line with gentle barks when they get too rowdy for his laid-back taste. He currently has free-run of the house during the day with Furie and doesn't like small confined spaces like crates. Because he is so very tall and he is a strong leaner, River would do best in a home with older children as he might knock over little ones while trying to get some love. River would also thrive in a semi-active home with a steady routine with an attentive family.
