Wheezy's Story...

A little bit about Wheezy... (A letter from her previous owner, given to Happy Endings) 'Wheezy was originally adopted when she was 6 months old. Her new owners noticed that when she played a lot and got very excited, she would start to 'wheeze'. The name stuck after that and it suites her quite perfectly! Wheezy is a very sweet kitty that sometimes confuses play with biting. If she is in a playful mood, she thinks it's fun to get someone's feet. A few squirts with the squirt bottle definitely deters this behavior. Overall though, she is quite affectionate and loves to be around people. She also gets very curious and has to explore everything! Since Wheeze had a tough beginning before she was rescued at 6 months old, she is a little timid around those she doesn't know. She had a broken paw when she was first rescued so no one knows how things were for her in the beginning. She definitely warms up to females much faster than males. It's best to let her come and check you out first, versus you going up to her. Wheezy is a wonderful kitty that needs some patience and love from someone that is willing to let her take her time in getting to know them. She is such a cute cat with a great heart!' Wheezy is now at the shelter and is ready for that furrever home. Stop on in and see her!

Shelter Info...

About Our Shelter...
Happy Endings is a nonprofit 501(c)(3), no-kill organization run solely by volunteers who have been saving lives since 1994. It is the mission of Happy Endings to find permanent homes for unwanted, stray, abused or feral animals that are brought to us or rescued from the street.

Happy Endings provides a safe haven for feral, stray, abused, neglected, unwanted and critically injured cats. We care for cats that are sick and provide homes for all cats until they are ready to be adopted. Animals are never euthanized by Happy Endings for convenience sake, but only when, in a veterinarians professional opinion, It is in a state of terminal suffering.

Come Meet Our Pets...
We are located at 5349 Forest Home Avenue and are open on Thursdays - 6 PM to 9 PM and on Saturdays - 11 AM to 4 PM.

Happy endings would like to take this opportunity to thank Crawford Animal Hospital for providing a place to keep, take care of and show some of our adoptable cats there. The turnout has been amazing. Every cat sent there to be shown has been placed into loving homes. To view our cats there, please stop and visit Crawford during their normal business hours. They are located at 4607 South 108th Street, Greenfield, WI 53228.”

Our Adoption Process...
All potential adopters must fill out an application and go through an interview. Our adoption facilitators walk them through the shelter and help them find the perfect animal that would best match their homes. After a potential adopter signs up for a specific animal, there is a cool-down period.

We do veterinarian reference checks and follow-up telephone calls on Mondays to make sure the potential adopters are still interested. After the telephone interview has taken place, a home visit is set up and the selected animal is delivered to it's new home.

Our adoption fees are $85 for one cat or kitten and $130 for two cats or kittens. The adoption fee includes various procedures which have already been performed, such as:

  • Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency virus tests
  • Distemper shots
  • Rabies Booster
  • Preventative Dewormer
  • Spay or neuter for all cats at least 6 months of age or older
  • An adoption folder complete with an "Animal Health Log Sheet" containing the cat's health history.

Under no circumstances do our animals leave the shelter the same day they are signed up for.
