My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Duncan (DOB 11-17-10) came into rescue having never been out of his house before. He had received no socialization or medical care. We immediately started Duncan in Dachshund Boot Camp. We quickly vaccinated and neutered him and then began teaching him about the outside world. Because he is young, we decided not to coddle him along and instead basically threw him into the deep end of the pool. Within two week s of arriving in rescue Duncan attended two adoption events, one with thousands of visitors. By the end of the second event, Duncan was the favorite of all the visitors and would even approach strangers for a treat. This is great progress from a dog that was so scared his first day in rescue, we couldn’t catch him!

Duncan is a very sweet, friendly dog and very loving. He still is worried about strangers but he is getting better. He needs a home that will continue to expose him to the world by taking him on walks to new and different places. Duncan loves to play with other dogs so his ideal home would have a playful canine companion. Duncan is a tiny guy (8.5 lbs) so we think he could learn to be safe with cats.

We will admit to spoiling Duncan. He was so worried when he first came into rescue that we let him sleep in the big bed. Needless to say, that is where he has been sleeping ever since.
