My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Updated Bio 01/16/12: Miley is an adorable 6 year old, 4 pound little girl who was released by a breeder in October. Miley was diagnosed as a diabetic at that time. She was recently switched from 2 units twice a day to 3 units twice a day of insulin. Her cataracts are very bad in both eyes and she really doesn’t have much eyesight left at all. She is getting around by smelling and listening to our voices. Her eyesight loss came about quickly and we’ve been really impressed with how she has dealt with it. She is very, very sweet and does not have a mean bone in her body. She loves to be loved and just wants to sit on our laps. Miley needs a stay-at-home parent to administer her meds and let her outside to potty. Miley is a special girl who deserves a great forever family. If you think you could be the one, please fill out an adoption application. Or if you have any questions about the requirements to take care of a diabetic dog, please email Miley's foster mom.

UPDATED BIO 11/7/11: Miley went back to the vet on Friday to check her glucose and she is making wonderful progress. Her glucose is now down to 254 from the 622 we are so happy. Dr. Darrow said he would feel comfortable doing her spay and shots with her sugar under 200 and if we continue like this it wont be long. She is also up to 7.3 pounds (from 4 lbs) and doesn't feel like a skelton anymore. He said that if she is pregnant it probably only 1 pup but he is not convinced that she is. She is an extremely smart little girl and picks up on things very quickly. She had no clue how to play ball when she came to us and now she is a ball super star. Her urinating is getting alot better now. She is house trained as long as someone is home to let her out every couple of hours otherwise she will pee pee on a pee pad. Still haven't got any yorkie kisses from her but she does love to snuggle under your neck. She gets along great with the boys and needs to have a playmate(s) becuase she does depend on the boys company alot.

INITIAL BIO 10/05/2011 MEET MILEY! Miley is 6 years old and currently weighs a very skinny 4 lbs - she has lost weight rapidly due to her uncontrolled diabetes and should weigh approximately 6-7 lbs. She was surrendered by a breeder today; although she was diagnosed with diabetes 3 weeks ago, she did not receive any insulin and her blood glucose is now 622. She is an a vet's office and is receiving insulin therapy - we are praying that she hasn't received any permanent damage from her high blood glucose...... watch for more info on Miley ....
