Rocky's Story...
Rocky is new to our program, but from what we can tell, he is a very sweet boy. He was abandoned in an apartment complex and then turned into BARC by the apartment manager. His nails look like he was never taken on walks or anything, and his hair seemed like it had never been combed, poor guy. We bathed him and brushed him and he is just beautiful! He just wants to be loved and to have an owner to give him what he deserves! We will update more as we get to know him better.

Rocky is around 2 yrs old and about 50 lbs. He is updated on shots, spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped, and heartworm tested. The adoption fee is $100.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Rocky, a Houston Golden Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Golden Retriever for sale in Houston, or seeking a Golden Retriever dog from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Golden Retriever breeders who help with Golden Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
