My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Teddy is a 5 year old average size sable & white Sheltie. Teddy's previous owner kept him tied to her belt on a leash since he was a puppy. She recently passed away and so Teddy came to SSRI. Now that he is not tied to anyone, he is enjoying and exploring the world. He loves to play with toys and he will bring them to you to throw for him. It can be a real toy or just a washcloth, but beware it can also be a remote or a telephone too. ;-) He is a little shy around people at first but warms up after a while. Teddy prefers women to men, however it has been noticed that he will warm up to a man given some time. He doesn't interact with other dogs much and would prefer to be the only dog or maybe with one other calm dog. He is housebroken as long as he has access to the outdoors, i.e., a doggy door.

When Teddy came to us we noticed that his urine was rather strong so immediately took him to our vet. He had crystals in his urine and a stone in his urethra. The crystals and stone were removed surgically. He will need to stay on his special diet for life. It is not an expensive diet, but if he eats anything else he is at risk for another stone. We have not experienced Teddy around children, so we are recommending older mature children (12 & up).
