Here's what the humans have to say about me:
General traits: friendly; affectionate; mature but still playful with other beagles
Location: Gaithersburg, MD
Stanford, a handsome copper nose beagle, is a pleasantly mature fellow who just wants affection, a human to love, and some yummy treats from time-to-time; a doggy toy or two would be good too. He’ll give ample affection, snuggles, and soulful beagle gazes in return! He's a little shy but VERY affectionate guy. Stanford is adult enough that toys still hold appeal for play but he kindly leaves clutter and furniture alone. He loves treats, but accepts that he's last in line for them. With only mild interest in plain old kibble (he’s lost 2 but is still trying to lose a couple of pounds), he perks up to the scent of people-food, but is respectful of a firm ‘no.’
Stanford currently lives with 3 other beagles, and he would thrive in an environment where there would be more attention for him -- there's a lot of competition for my affection, and even though he's the largest of them all, the poor fellow often gets pushed aside. An attentive guy, Stanford responds well to several commands (e.g., sit, come, and off) and would surely cooperate with other training. He pulls on the leash a bit, and with just a little patience and a few treats in the pocket, he’d be ‘heeling’ in no time! Definitely house-trained, he hasn’t had a single accident in his foster home and has outgrown puppy shenanigans, so he does fine running loose when his humans are away from home. Clearly a house pet before being rescued, Stanford is well-behaved indoors and truly appreciates stretching out under a table or snuggling up in a comfy chair – whether it’s occupied by a person or not!
