My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is Star! Star is a sweet tri-colored Yorkie girl with floppy ears and oh so cute! Star is 2.5 years old and 7.5 lbs of love! Star longs to be cuddled; she feels that this is the reason for living! Star wishes to be someones little Princess!!! Star's perfect home is one where the children have grown, teens are fine. Star prefers woman over men. Star gets along fine with other dogs, but doesn't want a lot of competition for the position on mom's lap! Star does OK on leash, accepts it just fine, although does not walk at your side, and she is OK in the car. Stars goal is to be with her favorite person, so if that means going for a walk or a ride, then let's go! Otherwise sitting at home in her chosen ones lap is absolutely great! Star does not really play with toys, but she enjoys a cozy doggie bed and a plush to cuddle with! Star does enjoy chews and bones, and is food motivated most of the time! All of our adoptable dogs are in foster care. Of course, the longer we have a dog, the more we learn about that dog's personality, needs, likes and dislikes. Star will use a crate, but does better in a gated area or doggie exercise play pen. We are discovering that Star is a little on the "high maintenance" side. She tends to get overwhelmed fairly easily in new situations; she can display a bit of separation anxiety too, she will pace back and forth to look for her favorite person. Star is not housebroken, we are working diligently on this, but it has been quite challenging. In Star's previous home, she was "trained" to puppy pads and newspaper, which she will "hit" approx 60% of the time; she is willing to go outside, but has not figured out how to ask to go out, nor does she feel that it is important to do so. Star will need a person who has trained themselves to give regular and frequent potty calls to their 4-legged companions! Star will need a Yorkie experienced person who understands that this breed can be very difficult to housebreak, and is very often NOT 100% reliable! Yorkie experienced people know and love the breed regardless! NOTE: Star does not like cats or birds! Star has been spayed and brought up-to-date with her vaccines, she is heartworm negative and has been started on Heartgard. Star hopes to be offered a forever home soon, so please email to: tlmckenty@aol.com for an application now! PLEASE YORKIE EXPERIENCED NEED ONLY APPLY!
