Sprinkles - Forget Me Not's Story...

*** The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/adoption.html.  Please do not call until AFTER you have filled out an application.  We are a volunteer based organization, and will not show dogs/cats without an appointment.***

Name:  Sprinkles

Breed:  Miniature Pinscher

Age:  5 years

Gender:  Female

Weight: overweight at 17 lb.

Adoption Fee:  $162.50 Forget Me Not Pricing

Why in Rescue:  Sprinkles was surrendered from a Puppy Mill/Breeder

General Profile: 2/10/13 Sprinkles is still looking for just the right home.  While she is still shy and reserved, she looks forward to going outside on her daily walk.  She LOVES treats and with some one on one attention she should be able to advance even further.  She would love to have a fenced yard and a canine companion in her new home.  If you are considering meeting Sprinkles, please read the information linked to below about adopting a Puppy Mill Survivor.

Sprinkles has been with us for a year, and really would love to find a home of her own.  She came from a puppy mill and was very shy and unsure about people.  While she has improved, she is still very shy.  She has learned to walk on a leash.  She is going to need a home with a fenced yard, and hopefully another socialized dog.  She gets along well with other dogs, but is nervous of people.  If you are a patient person, who would get great joy seeing a dog slowing developing skills that most people take for granted (like coming up for petting), you may be the one to help Sprinkles on her way.  She does love treats (probably why she is overweight), so that is helpful in working with a shy, former puppy mill dog.

If you are considering adopting one of our puppy mill survivors, please take a look at this article to see some of the issues you may face when adopting a dog that wasn't well socialized:  http://www.aspcabehavior.org/articles/185/Adopting-a-Puppy-Mill-Dog.aspx   While these dogs take some extra time, when you see them learn the simple joys in life (like taking a treat from your hand or the first time they run around in happiness), it makes it all worth it.

If you are interested in meeting any of the dogs at Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue, please fill out the pre-adoption application.  After reviewing the application, we will get in touch with you to set up an appointment to meet with the dogs.

The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $125 - $425 depending on the age of the dog, which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested and started on preventative, microchipped, and dewormed.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.

To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you will also receive an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training for a reduced fee of $50 (up to $190 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, Small Dogs Big Hearts, or Shy & Reactive Dog Class.  You must start the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc

All dogs are seen BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.  Many are in various foster homes getting extra one on one attention getting them ready for their new homes.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application.  Bichon and Little Buddies is run by volunteers who have full time jobs in addition to the hours they spend with the rescue dogs.  Having an application on file assures us that the potential adopter is really interested in adopting a dog.  It also assists us in placing dogs in homes where both the dog and new owners are happy.  The application puts you under no obligation to adopt a dog from Bichon and Little Buddies.

The Pre-Adoption Application can be found at http://www.bichonrescues.com

You may then return the application by email to bichonandlittlebuddies@gmail.com or mail to Bichon and Little Buddies, 828 Perkins Dr #200, Mukwonago, WI 53149

Thanks for thinking about adopting your new pet!

***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.***

***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded (minus a $50 administration fee).  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.***

Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS

About Our Rescue Group...
Bichon and Little Buddies is a rescue that primarily cares for small breed dogs that find themselves looking for a new home. Dogs come to us from a variety of places. We have former breeding dogs from "puppy mills", strays and lost dogs unclaimed by their owners, and previously loved dogs that the owners are unwilling or no longer able to care for.

Come Meet Our Pets...
Our dogs are housed at our facility as well as in foster homes. If you are interested in meeting a pet, please fill out the pre-adoption application, and we will set up an appointment for you to meet the dog(s) you are interested in. We are all volunteers working full time jobs in addition to our rescue work, so please make an appointment before coming by.
Our Adoption Process...
Before meeting with a dog, a pre-adoption application must be completed. After the application is approved, a meeting is arranged between the adopter and the pet. An adoption contract is signed, adoption fee paid (from $125-$425), and the dog is able to go to the new home once all medical care is given. Dogs are fully vetted, including vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter, heartworm test, deworming, dental if needed, and other procedured needed by the particular dog. Adopters are required to return the dog to us if they are unable or unwilling to care for the dog in the future.

We are all volunteers working full time jobs in addition to our rescue work. Please be patient if it takes a day or two for us to get back to you. We do try to respond promptly, but the care of our animals takes priority to phone calls and emails.

We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
Our main adoption area is Wisconsin and Illinois, but will occassionally adopt to surrounding states on a case by case basis.
