Blackjack Jackson's Story...
Blackjack Jackson

"Jack" is a sweet, loving dog. His greatest joy in life is simply being with his people. He is a happy-go-lucky dog that is always up for a walk or a playdate with other dogs. He is six, but doesn't act like an older dog. Jack will jump up and down when he is excited but he doesn't jump on people or counters. His smile and long hair around his ears gives him a happy look.

Jack is a very well behaved dog, potty trained, no excessive barking, and knows the basic commands. When inside, he will often simply lay beside you and wait until you want him for something. We are working on "come", which just needs a little more practice. He walks well on a leash and loves to be outside.

Jack currently lives with another german shepherd and two cats. He ignores the cats and just "hangs out" with the other dog. He loves to meet other dogs and is very social. He is extremely tolerant of small children, pulling on his long hair around his ears and getting their face in his.

Jack does suffer from a slight allergy which makes his eyes water and itch. Giving him a little Benedryl seems to eliminate the issue. His only bad habit is that when he arrives in a new situation, he feels insecure and that he needs to mark everything. It is typically only a few drops, but it is a bad habit. He only does it at the initial visit. Keeping him on a tight leash at first, will give him confidence in a new setting and he won't mark.

Jack is a happy, fun dog that would love nothing more than to be adopted by a family that wants to just dote on him all day. He is a sucker for cuddles and attention. He has a calm, gentle nature and loves to be social.

Jack is a level 1 dog being fostered in the south Bay area.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Blackjack Jackson, a Fresno German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Fresno, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Fresno.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Fresno already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Fresno breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Fresno paves the way for another one to be saved.
