My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello everyone! My name is Harley and I have been through alot before coming to rescue. I was suffering from heat stroke when I came into a shelter in the Panhandle. The kind employees there took me to the vet and saved my life!! My owners were found and they said they would come to take me home. After weeks waiting at the shelter PROoF made arrangements to rescue me from death row. You see, I’m no spring chicken at 9 years of age and I’m blind and deaf! We are hopeful that after my ear infection clears up I may possibly be able to hear a bit. Unfortunately my blindness is permanent. It was caused by untreated “dry eye” which is pretty common in pugs. I’ll need daily eye drops for the rest of my life and I’ve been such a good boy for my foster Mom when she puts them in. It makes my eyes feel so much better!

I’m a big boy weighing in at 30 pounds so I could stand to lose a few of those. My foster family thinks I may have had a canine companion at my old home who helped me find my way. I love my foster brother and he’s a pug too so we get along great! I hate to be left alone and will sure tell you about it. I have the most mournful, lost howl. It’s no wonder I wouldn’t eat very much with all the stress I’ve endured. Even with all my special needs I haven’t had any accidents in the house! I just need to be escorted outside and I do my business.

Even though I’m very happy in my foster home it would be great to find my very own someday. Until then I’ll be hangin’ out in the Pensacola area. My adoption fee is only $100! If you have room for a sweet special needs pug please ask for me on your application. Complete an adoption application here. If you love me but can’t adopt me, please send a donation to help pay medical bills for not just me but my fellow foster brothers and sisters. They sure could use it!
