Joy's Story...
Birthdate: 9/24/09

Gender: Female, spayed

Breed: Chihuahua/Pug mix (Chug)

“Pretty as a princess” describes Joy perfectly, and this little girl certainly knows it. She loves to strut her stuff and show off for the cameras.

She’s only been in foster care for a couple of weeks, and she has already started to accumulate quite the wardrobe. Her foster mom claims she started with just the sweater because, “Joy looked cold,” but now that she has a frilly dress too, we’re not buying it. Of course she has a good excuse. Joy looks adorable when she’s all dolled up (not that she isn’t cute without the frills) and she actually loves to put on outfits.

Don’t miss her video!

We don’t know much about Joy’s history. She was found as a stray in Trumbull County and waiting patiently at the dog pound for her owners to claim her, but they never appeared. It’s obvious that she was loved and spoiled at some point because she adores people, but her time was up at the pound. Luckily, that’s when they called us at New Lease on Life.

Joy loves to be spoiled, as if that wasn’t already obvious. She loves to play with other dogs and even gets along with cats. But her absolute favorite companion is kids. Big or small, she loves hanging out with them.

And boy does she love to snuggle. If you’re watching TV, Joy is right there with you. And when it’s time for bed, Joy will race you to the bedroom. She sleeps under the covers with her foster mom.

Joy is a Chihuahua/Pug mix and full grown at only 14 pounds, so she’s just a little girl. She is fully housebroken, but you do need to be patient with her. She likes to survey the yard completely before choosing the perfect spot to fertilize.

Joy is currently in foster care, but she will be making a SPECIAL APPEARANCE Friday, October 28, at the shelter to meet potential adopters. Just visit us any time between 6 and 8pm to meet this lovely girl. She is already spayed, heartworm tested (negative) and on preventative, fully vaccinated, dewormed and flea treated and ready to join your family.

Can’t make it to the shelter Friday? Give us a call at 330–397–8270 to schedule an appt on another day to meet her at the shelter. She would love to meet you.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Joy, a Struthers Chihuahua/Pug dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua/Pug for sale in Struthers, or seeking a Chihuahua/Pug dog from a breeder in Struthers.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Struthers already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Struthers breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua/Pug breeders who help with Chihuahua/Pug rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Struthers paves the way for another one to be saved.
