My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi – I am Rocky, and I need a forever home. My previous owner reluctantly gave me up. Unfortunately, he couldn't take me with him wherever it is that he was going. So, I ended up in a high kill shelter. My rescue group think I’m 8-10 months-old and weigh 45 pounds. They also think that I’m very handsome. When I came to my first foster home, being in a strange new place and a little overwhelmed, I spent some time in spiritual contemplation. You see, there was this statue of the Buddist goddess Quen Yin in the backyard and I kinda admired it. When you’re a homeless puppy like me that’s been bounced around, it’s always to one’s advantage to keep up with these human religions, is what I say. Anyway, one day, my foster mom noticed that Quan was missing! What to do?! She looked high and low all around the yard and inside the house. Everyone was mystified! Wherever could Quan have gone? I finally had to ‘fess up when they found her snuggled up with me on the bed. Yes, I couldn’t resist carefully bringing her back to my favorite sleeping place. A true pacifist at heart, I get along famously with other dogs and am a mellow, laid-back sort of puppy. You see, it’s all the spiritual influences and careful contemplation! But I also love to play and make my caretaker laugh. I first made my foster mom laugh when I demonstrated my excellent stealthy lap sneaking techniques. She’ll be sitting on the sofa, reading a book or watching TV, and I’ll wait at her feet and plan my next move. I get closer and closer, little by little, start leaning, up goes a paw and VOILA! I am in her lap and she barely even noticed! “Charming” and “calm” are the words most often used to describe me. Now I need a forever home ‘cauz my foster mom when back to her country and couldn’t take me with her. I am housetrained on schedule, crate trained, and I have good house manners. I would love to be your best friend and in return I will love you forever.
