My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

January 2012

UPDATE 4/20/12

Alvy is a 1 1/2 - 2 year old purebred smooth coat border collie who comes from working parents. Alvy is a high energy dog who needs a job to do. Alvy has had alot of life experience in his 2 years. Alvy came into rescue in January, was adopted out to a working home, and came back to NBCR a few weeks later. Alvy is a great cowdog, and helped out on a feedlot for his previous adopter, with minimal training. Alvy's previous adopter really liked working with Alvy, however Alvy was very nervous around their young children. However, in his new foster home Alvy has been around a lot of people, including children, and would be fine in a home with older children that know how to be appropriate around a herdingdog. Alvy is having a great time in his foster home and can't wait to have an active home of his own! Here is a little more about Alvy from his foster home:

Alvy is currently attending foundations class for agility. They are working on shaping the tunnel, jumps, doing perch work and crate games. He loves every minute of it. Alvy is a very fast learner and is sooo eager to please. He gives 110% and wants nothing more then to make his person happy. Alvy is food motivated and loves to play with squeeky toys, which makes training even more fun.

Alvy is a very lucky Border Collie, as his foster Mom owns sheep! He is VERY intense on sheep. His foster Mom works him about 3 times a week in the round pen. He is starting to feel where his balance point is. Alvy is not a aggressive dog at all on sheep, and has not tried to grip once.

After being well exercised, Alvy is a wonderful companion. Alvy is quiet in the house and wants to be by your side. He will lay down next to you where ever you are. Alvy is a very loyal dog. He loves women and is very affectionate. He is not as confident with men and can be a little shy. When a man approaches he will tuck his tall and lay is ears down like he is just not sure - he needs a slow introduction. Alvy rides great in the car. In the car, he travels in the crate and just lays down with no barking, whining, etc. There isn't much that Alvy is afraid of, he was spooked by the fireplace once, but thunderstorms do not bother him at all.
Alvy is a gorgeous dog, that needs a job. Alvy is a great companion as long as he has a job, be it herding, agility or both!! He would excel at almost anything you wished to pursue!

New photos coming soon!
